BOTTOM OF THE POST

Here comes the next Atlantic Swell Event setting up. Don’t want everyone to get excited just yet as there is not a ton of model confidence outside of 5 days at the moment but the pattern setting up looking favorable for anyone headed out to the Islands next 5-10 days. Heres what it’s looking like at the moment. The 2 arrows over the Atlantic (Double Barrel Low) and the one over SE Canada will rotate up into the NATLC towards the tip of Greenland will essentially combine to form a storm to get the party started. Seas forecast excess 40 feet. This is going to get some long period Northerly Swell coming out of the North Atlantic. The key player at the moment is the one on the left North of Texas. That one is forecast to lift up and over Cape Cod into the Atlantic as a developing GALE next 72 to 96 hours.

This is the 06Z GFS for Thursday. The Low is forecast to drift off towards the East then NE and dissipate.
2017-01-16_101443This will likely set up portions of the Mid-Atlantic and NE with some fun surf conditions and put a shot of swell heading for the Islands.
2017-01-16_102511Heres what it looks like in the latest NOAA 96HR Swell forecast. The idea is the Northerly Swell coming out of the North Atlantic gets wrapped into the GALE sliding off towards the East from the Cape. Unclear at the moment if any of it can get South of the OBX.
